Welcome to the Rightmove Budget Calculator
The final sheet is where your total monthly budget is worked out to give you an idea of what you might be able to afford
based on your current lifestyle.
If you already have an idea of what your mortgage payments are likely to be, you can enter this in the designated field.
You will be able to identify what else you have left in the final sheet. If not, leave this blank so you can see what is left to
spend on a mortgage.
Most online Mortgage Calculators only require you to complete your main monthly commitments, but this can grossly
underestimate other household costs that may not be considered 'essential' but you could not live without. For
example, are you happy to buy a property if it means you can no longer afford that holiday in the sun
We understand that buying a property is the biggest investment you are likely to make in your life, so when it comes
to working out what you can afford, it makes sense to get the figures right. Budgeting can be a painful task so we
have designed this spreadsheet to do all the work for you. It will take some leg work on your part, but it'll be worth it!
The spreadsheet is designed in three parts:
Click on the Blue tab below to get started!
You will notice the far-right column is automatically completed to give you the monthly equivalent of what your spend is.
This will enable you to see what your outgoings are as a monthly equivalent as mortgage and rent payments are usually
paid monthly.
Your Budget
This sheet requires you to identify your income from various sources - simply enter the amount in the column and then
specify whether you receive that money Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly or Annually.
Your Income
Your Outgoings
Work through the list to specify your expenses, completing whether you pay this amount Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly or
Annually.
The list is designed to be exhaustive and hopefully covers the main household outgoings. Not everything will apply, so
simply leave these columns blank. If we have missed anything, feel free to change headings so it applies to you.
Remember, these are only estimations and the spreadsheet should only act as a guide for you. Rightmove takes no
responsibility for any errors in this spreadsheet.
